Vocabulary
Solution - A homogeneous mixture that is mixed molecule by molecule.
Solvent - A substance that is able to dissolve other substances.
Solute - The substance that is dissolved in the solvent.
Aqueous Solution - A solution in which the solvent is water.
Electrolytes - A substance that can form ions in an aqueous solution.
Saturated - When the maximum amount of solute is dissolved.
Unsaturated - When more solute can potentially be dissolved.
Supersaturated - When the solution has more solute than it theoretically should.
Concentration - The amount of substance per space, typically in mass per volume units.
(for example, kg/l)
Dilute Solution - A solution whose solution quantity is small compared to the solvent quantity. This is the opposite of a concentrated solution.
Concentrated Solution - A solution whose solvent quantity is small compared to the solute quantity. This is the opposite of a dilute solution.
